Silas’ 5th Birthday Interview

At some point, I’ll probably stop posting these publicly. I talked with him about it, and he felt fine about sharing this year’s interview. At least he was wearing pants this time…unlike last year.

What’s the theme for your party this year?


Why did you pick Frozen?

Because I like the color blue and the color white. And the color gold! [He means silver.]

Is it exciting to be five?


Does it feel different from being four?


What do you want to be when you grow up?

Firefighter. [news to me…]


Because they fight fires…Actually, a super hero. [More like what I expected.]

Can you tell me about some of your friends?

Eliza usually plays “Danger Bugs” with me. You wear goggles and pretend that you’re a bug that fights danger. With Lillian, I like to try to find dragons and fight them.

Can you tell me something special about our family?

Hard work.

Why is that a special thing about our family?

Because we like working hard. [So many revelations in this interview…]

What was something exciting you did this year?

Go to Grammie’s house.

Did we go on any fun vacations this year?

New York. Florida!

What did we do in Florida?

Went to Disney World.

What was the best part about Disney World?

Mickey Mouse shows.

What was the hardest thing that you did this year?

Help Petra get her shoes on.

Can you tell me something interesting that you’ve learned this year?

Telling questions.

Is there something you want to learn about this coming year?

Ladders. Actually axes. Actually hammers.

Can you sing your favorite song for me?

[sings “Let It Go”]

What’s your favorite thing to do with Daddy?

Play “Tarzan.” [This is a wrestling game]

What’s your favorite thing to do with me?

Get snacks.

What do you like best about being a big brother?

Working hard.

What kind of working hard?

[shows ice castle in progress for party]

We like playing Super Heroes.

What’s hard about being a big brother?

We laugh too much.

Is there anything you’re afraid of?

The wind and bears.

Go back to Disney World again. Or Arizona.
