Silas and Pastor Dayna are talking about a Chinese calligraphy scroll hanging in her office.
Dayna: It says “The greatest of these is Love.” My Chinese friend gave this to me. I can’t read Chinese, but I bet when you’re bigger, you’ll learn to read Chinese.
Silas: Yeah. The Chinese letters are interesting, because they’re like pictures.
Dayna: Maybe you’ll learn to speak Chinese when you’re bigger.
Silas: I already speak Chinese because I know how to say 再见 [goodbye] and 您好 [hello].
These are, of course, the only Chinese words he knows.
