Weekend Reading

Sometimes, when I’m up with Petra in the middle of the night, I accidentally hit “save” as I’m scanning through the Feedly app. When I review the things I’ve marked, I get some weird surprises…Here are the best of the ones I intentionally marked.

According to BoingBoing, it’s possible to erase a traffic jam–it just takes one driver. I’m going to try this the next time I’m stuck. It will drive JC crazy (bonus!).

My friend Caroline wrote a touching, if belated, post for Father’s Day, all about the power of daddies. I got a little teary reading it.

Over at 649, a guest post on the tensions of wanting to be a present mom, but also be a person involved in the world. I completely get where this lady is coming from.

And now two that are political, but I’m sharing them mostly because they are brilliantly executed:

McSweeney’s offers a pitch-perfect parody of Alexander and the No-Good, Very Bad, etc..day.

I’m a huge fan of the recent meme of people using Amazon reviews for comedy. This week, there was a spike in reviews of a certain pair of pink sneakers.

I enjoyed the post about motherhood versus career and trying to have both. I really struggle with this… I say I want I be a stay at home mom, but I love my career as a teacher. Good food for thought.

Thanks for reposting, Alicia. I’m glad you enjoyed reading it. And that 649 Guest Post – YES. May have to site that in a future post myself. Boy, that’s a constant struggle.
